While these words are written while the release is playing, they are only meant as the most happenstance sort of adjunct to sounds. No attempt here at any sort of program music.

Thinking of how Cage and Cunningham worked their music and dance. Neither was matched to other. Together they were not intended to mesh or sync up, just to be two things to experience.

Seemed odd to fans of music or dance but that was the intention overall.

These liner notes may not really go with nor explain what’s happening. But like the nutritional info on the spine of a cereal box, this may be something to read if one wishes to read.

Aesthetic maniifestos are fun enough, but unneeded when the sounds can speak and exist as themselves.

Often times science fiction sounds and soundtracks come to mind for some listening. Again, no intention here, but the work of the Barrons, who created “electronic tonalities” for the movie Forbidden Planet—that work and way of working does come to mind. Like the use of the Russian synth ANS on    the movie Solaris also comes to mind. And a couple of tracks do use the Virtual ANS to create sound.

Still that may likely be happenstance.

The electronic work of David Tudor and others beside are just as adjacent in mind and means. Also some taste of the resonator speakers of the Ondes Martinot. Etc, etc.

To paraphrase an old saw – To someone with a gizmo, everything is an oscillator. Or a speaker. Or a microphone. Or an amplifier.

Perhaps that’s my older way of doing things, but it persists in the newer approaches. One shakes such habits hard.

As to taste, that’ll vary.

Some like this noisy sort of thing. And likely make it themselves.

Hey, why not?

After this long uneasy duration that may yet pass for peace, one may be very glad to be ignored. Better that than misunderstood and harrassed. Just guessing.

Why so long? Not sure, a ex songwriter, these do seem on the long side. But since I don’r really try to genre conform, these are mostly catagorized as noise, not noise music per se. Nor even drone, though they do tend to drone and shift only very slowly and slightly. Indeed, the likes of La Monte Young comes to mind and Eternal Music. So maybe think of them as longer stretches that our ears just walk in on for a while.

Then this calls in all sorts of thoughts about process and results of said process. Maybe don’t think. Maybe read this to keep the mind off to one side whlle one listens.

Maybe.

about

KR Seward Somerset, Massachusetts

An aggregate of noises, voices & notions since 1982. A whole mess of tunes written. More recently eschewing classic song form, looking to raise a ruckus.
